Idiot Boink worked his magic hours after drafted Roy Tarpley to add two solid young guns to the roster. Although it required trading three first rounders, and fan favourite Haywoode Workman to the 76ers, it more than made up for it by acquiring sharpshooting Sean Elliott, and one of the best young bigs in the game, Vin Baker.
“I love Baker’s game. He’s already a pretty solid player, but I do hope he continues to work and improve. He’ll be competing for playing time for certain, but he has a long way to go to become an elite player in this league. As for Sean, he’s already a very efficient scorer. Him and Marco should compliment each other well.”
Also in the deal, is Dino Radja, who is heavily touted for being one of the most over-payed players in the league.
“Dino is a good player, don’t get me wrong. Both Hank and Dino are on big contracts, but both are veterans who know how to play. Over-payed? Maybe. But, on a team like the Grizzlies, they will get a chance to showcase their skills. We have the cap room to take these guys on, and I am notorious for giving guys a chance to shine. This season will not be an exception.”
The only guaranteed starting spots are at the 1 and 5, with Llull and Tarpley being placed there. Belinelli, Elliott, Radja, Gathers and Haddadi will have to work hard to earn their starting roles.

Idiot Boink’s bribery went a long way, Monday morning when the Vancouver Grizzlies were allowed to pick the #2 overall pick, all the way from #11.
“We are ecstatic to take Roy Tarpley, who I truly believe is the best rebounder in the entire league. He can be an elite scorer, he defends well, and literally does everything well. We are aware of his problems off the court, and we are anxious to help him overcome those demons.”
Not many people know this, but the first time Idiot Boink met Tarpley was at rehab.
“He’s a cool guy.” Tarpley was quoted as saying. ”His pool cue skills were top notch. He won a bunch of smokes. It was neat.”

28 pieces were switched between the Milwaukee Bucks and our Vancouver Grizzlies, in what was easily the biggest trade of all time.
The main pieces that left the Grizzlies, were the Bucks 89 First Rounder, Reggie Lewis, and Fred Hoiberg. In return, the Grizzlies acquired many young talented players, and key veterans Damien Wilkins and Kermit Washington.
“With a young team, it is a good idea to have solid veterans to teach them the ropes. Wilkins and Washington are stellar players, who are good influences in the locker room. Both have had success in the league, and we will benefit from them. Also, I love Sergio Llull. The kid works hard, and depending on how he does the next few games, will determine if we sign him long-term. As it stands, he is the favourite to be our in-season extension. Considering I gave up a chance at Sherman Douglas, I’m taking a huge risk here.”
Also in the trade, Blue Edwards, Marko Jaric and Carlos Jimenez were added in hopes of having a breakout training camp in which they could be re-signed. Some waiver wire guys were added as well, which may not make sense to some.
“John Solley of the Sacramento Kings states he likes to be 15 deep. Good for him. We’re 21 deep. We suffer a big injury, we can drop a guy to waivers and pick another up.”

It didn’t take long for Idiot Boink to make a splash.
After taking on three contracts from the Raptors, they all have quickly been exchanged to the New York Knicks for Hank Gathers.
Hank Gathers was signed by Idiot Boink a few years ago, and was their big man of the future. Unfortunately, things did not pan out.
“We now know what Hank is capable of, and we have realistic goals for him. We want him to be a big rebounding presence, while scoring efficiently for us as well. Alongside Haddidi, we feel we have a decent front court. Are these two guys starters? Maybe not, but as role players they will be very effective.”
Bimbo Coles has some potential in the future, while Louis Amundson has already been moved to Toronto.
The Grizzlies send PF Darko Milicic to the Knicks.
The Grizzlies send C Andray Blatche to the Knicks.
The Grizzlies send C Matt Geiger to the Knicks.
The Grizzlies send the 1988 Grizzlies Round 2 draft pick to the Knicks.
The Grizzlies send the 1988 Magic Round 2 draft pick to the Knicks.
The Grizzlies send the 1988 Hawks Round 2 draft pick to the Knicks.
The Grizzlies send the 1990 Pacers Round 1 draft pick to the Knicks.
The Knicks send PG Bimbo Coles to the Grizzlies.
The Knicks send PF Hank Gathers to the Grizzlies.
The Knicks send PF Louis Amundson to the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies are looking to the future, are are giving Vancouver fans everywhere a ton of hope. Although it required taking some awful cap for the next three seasons, and involved trading away fan favourite Panagiotis Giannakis, the Grizz now have a total of 16 picks, nine of which will be next season.
“With only Workman, Belinelli, Lewis, Thornton and Haddadi alongside the three pieces I picked up from the Raptors on the books for next season, I can afford to take these picks on. We will be looking to move some of the 1988 picks for future years, to allow us an opportunity to sign some heavy free agents this offseason, and start rebuilding.”
Darko Milicic, Anthony Blatche and Matt Geiger are not expected to get much playing time, and will be moved anywhere in the league for free, if the opportunity ever arises. However, with 12 picks being acquired, as well as the talented Reggie Lewis and Al Thornton being sent over as well, Grizzlie fans cannot feel too bad. As it stands right now, they have 16 picks, six of which are first rounders. With cap space, and someone like Idiot Boink at the helm, anything can happen.

Workman, Giannakis and Belinelli are the future of this franchise.

Nobody expects the Vancouver Grizzlies to make the playoffs this year, and that includes the Vancouver Grizzlies. After trading away all their starters for picks and youth, Idiot Boink is using this time to scout his players to see who has potential.
“First off, this game showed me a few things. One, Drazen is not the scorer I can believe in. Two, Hamed Haddadi has the ability to play outside his skill level. Three, Workman, Giannakis and Belinelli are the future of this franchise.”
In a game which required a Marco Belinelli three-pointer to steal the win for the Grizzlies, Hamed Haddadi played his best game of his career. Known for simply being a defensive presence, Haddadi played 42 minutes, scored 13 points on 4 of 7 shooting, and a remarkable 5 of 6 from the line, and also had 15 rebounds, 5 of which were offensive. To close out the triple double, he had his career high of 10 blocks.
Also in the win, Workman nearly had a triple double as well, only missing one rebound. He had the assists and the points, and has been stellar at at the 1.

No longer will the Vancouver Grizzlies call the Alamodome their home. When Idiot Boink was named GM of the expansion team a few seasons ago, nobody expected him to move a stadium from San Antonio to Vancouver. Alas, it’s time to move on.
“The Alamodome was great for us, but now I want to build a new stadium which will host my respective IBL and rIBL teams. The new stadium will be in downtown Vancouver, and will have a new name.”
What is the new name, you ask? According to sources, the stadium will be known as “Surfing Bear Stadium”.
